Video - Battery wake-up and basic care.
- First, contact your BMW dealer for any warranty issues, who will contact us to arrange a time to inspect your bike.
- Service available at your home or taking your bike to a BMW dealer. (Subject to location)
- Service recommend intervals. 1st service after 30 days of purchase, then every 500 - 100 miles or 6 - 12 months depending on use and whichever comes first.
- Make sure you have the key and battery charger available for the technician.
- Latest firmware updates to BM509
- Battery reset / Wake-up: Remove the battery and press the button for 20 seconds.
- Battery life - charge to 85% every 3 months if not being used. Over the winter, store the battery indoors.
- e-Bikes Preparation for repair/service.
- Please make sure the e-Bike is accessible, that the Technician has the key and the charger is made available.
- Due to health and safety requirements, we require that all e-bikes that are brought in for servicing are accompanied with the key, so our Technicians can remove the battery if required. We are unable to progress with any servicing on an e-bike without the key.
Recommended service intervals:
2- Years warranty
Subject to service history.
- 1st Service. At 2,000 km, after 100 hours of operation or after three months counted from the date of purchase.
- 6 Month Service. At 4,000 km, after 200 hours of operation or after six months
- 9 Month Service. At 6,000 km, after 300 hours of operation or after nine months.
- 12 Month Service. At 8,000 km, after 400 hours of operation or after twelve months.
- 15 Month Service. At 10,000 km, after 500 hours of operation or after fifteen months.

Regarding warranty.
WARNING - Keep fingers away from the drive chain area. Refitting the battery, switches on the motor and turning the pedals will engage the motor.
Battery:
- Key - Do take care of your key and keep it somewhere safe. If you loose the key, it is not under warranty and you will need to pay for a new key and barrel plus fitting.
- Replacing a battery under warranty - If a Technician can not make an onsite visit, a battery box will be sent to you to be posted to Cycle Tech UK. First the battery will be tested, to isolate the issue. Your battery housing will be reused and you will have new cell's fitted and sent back to you. The old battery is returned to the manufacture.
- Before using your new battery you will need to fully charge it.
- The replacement battery is a s 720Wh
- Operating range depends on many factors such as the assistance level, gear changing behavior, route profile, headwind and temperature, but in general, the average range of the battery packs is up to around 50 miles.
Battery Charging Info:
- For optimal charging the battery is designed to be removed and charged at room temperature between 10° and 20°C.
- Store batteries in a cool, indoor location with stable temperature between approximately 10° to 20°C
- Do not expose the battery to direct sunlight or rain or in an environment likely to drop below 10° C.
- IMPORTANT! Avoid freezing temperatures.
- Charge battery to around 70% before storing for a period of time
- Every six months, charge battery back up to around 70%
- Before battery use, charge it completely
